Contact Asus for assistance.

If all else fails you can exchange it with Newegg.

I have never heard of fake Asus boards.

If it says ASUS on the mobo...then it should be an authentic article.

Sometimes with flashing...you get errors...this could be to do with the BIOS...but remember, hardware is pretty tough...especially things like your BIOS chip. floppy disks are more likely to be a problem, there could be that there are files on the floppy that are mucking with the process.

Make sure that these things are totally ok.
* if you were using the windows flash program...come out and use the floppy (traditional method)
* download a fresh image of Win98SE startup disk from Internet...
* use a fresh cloppy disk
* if you are using SATA...image the system with Ghost before you flash the BIOS...because this can sometimes stop the machine from rebooting into windows from SATA.
