Games wont install. please help

hi. i am on windows XP and when i try to install games, ie FS2002 FS2004 Battlefield 1942 i get the following error message and have to restart computer
A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.
BAD_POOL_CALLER

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

is there a patch i need or anything because these games worked perfectly on windows 98.

just to update and inform.. i have tried a re install of windows xp and have also downloaded all of the updates i can find in windows xp but neither of those worked

The issue could be a bad video card or driver. Update that first. Switch out to a different card if it doesn't. Here's a link I found the details someone else issue with that error message. http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/showt...to=nextnewest.

more than likely you need to get the updated driver for your video card if not then look into compatibility with xp, go to the games website and find out. If not that then you need to unplug your computer, set it on a 2nd story window sill and kick it out.

thanks guys... i tred that. but it didn't work. i have just put win98 back on thanks for your help anyway.. now all i got to do is get sound
