router problems

I have been trying to set up two computers on a router to play a game online. I can get both computers to connect, and we can both play, but as soon as we try to connect to the same server we get booted. I've recently obtained a second ip address from my isp to try to alleviate this problem, but I can't seem to configure my router so that it just works as a hub. I've disabled the DHCP client in it, but my computer still gets an ip address from the router. Previously, I've tried so many things with this damn router, like port forwarding and DMZ host, etc. Nothing seems to work, that's why I bought the second ip. Should I just get a hub now that I have a second ip, and will this work?? Please help!

Send a message via AIM to AthlonXP2600
don't plug anything into the wan port on the router and that should put it in "hub/switch" mode

had similar problem with linksys router fixed it by doing this

Router

Belkin has the same prob., you need to manually set the ip in the ipconfig. that cleared up the problem I was having. Oh yeah, also if you have a problem with connection dropping from the internet, your isp may not support static ip and the connection will go stale. Justalittleinfo.

The problem is that the router takes an IP. What AthlonXP2600 has suggested may work.

Exactly what make and model do you have?
