pcl-w300 webcam

Hi ppl i just installed the PCL-W300 webcam and all its software however after the install when i try to connect to the internet i get an error msg saying i'm behind a firewall.....i have to uninstall the webcam b4 being able to surf.....Can anyone suggest a way round this problem ie disable firewall etc........Thanx

I wouldn't disable your firewall just for a webcam. If you have to use the webcam, try finding out which port it uses and use your routers Port Forwarding settings and just forward that port to your PC so it's not behind the firewall.

What model router is it?

Thanx Evil Rick 4 ur quick response Sorry i'm not sure wht a Router is but if its 2 do with how i connect i use LAN via a cable modem.....not sure if tht answers ur question or not but i am a Novice with a capital N

I read that router part into it. I should have asked what firewall software you might be using. Zone Alarm? Sygate? McAfee or Norton?

You will probably need to enable the webcam through any of those. If you don't have any software or aren't using a router, then there's something wrong with the setup, because you wouldn't be behind a firewall.
