moniter won't receive signal

I have a nVIDIA GEFORCE 4 video card. I have had it and my moniter for 1 year. I moved and had to setup my computer in a shop/garage. One day I shut it off and when I rebooted it, everything started running, except the moniter said there was no signal. The moniter test said it was running right, and to check the cable and video card. The video card was tested on another computer, and beside the fact that the fan was spinning very slowly because of dust in it, it worked fine. The moniter cable looks fine, no damage on the outside. The computer nor the moniter was moved between the last time I shut it off and the next time I turned it on, when no signal was received by the moniter. I beleive that the moniter is a KDS 17" XF-7b FLAT CRT.

well check your Video card again, I had a video card too, and i had to take my comp apart, and put it all back together again, and when i turned it on, my monitor color was black and white, and for a week i didnt know why, when i took it all apart again and reassembled it, i forgot there were two plugs my monitor went, so i put it in the video card bay instead of the default monitor bay and it worked fine, maybe im just stupid, but hell..

also, I dont recommend the if you dont know what your doing inside your computer, but you should take your comp apart and dust it down, doing this will make everything work faster and better

your CPU may have been damaged during transit. I would check with that first. That has happened to me 2x already.

1. Check CPU in another motherboard.
2. check another CPU in your motherboard
3. put a PCI video card to test to see if AGP slot of AGP card is dead.
4. Fix problem!

I may have your answer

Hi there. I just happened to come upon your thread here. I have had a smilar problem recently. It could be your power supply that is the problem. The CPU is most likely NOT the problem. I have had a number of power supplies fail. Try a power supply from another computer.

Hope this is your problem!

???

the computer will start, and the hard disk spins. Are you talking about the power supply to the computer or the moniter?

I am talking about the power supply to the computer (box). It is not uncommon for there to be enough power to spin all the fans and hard disks, but not enough to start the computer. After all, the hard disks motors use the 12 volt lead and the te 5V lead could still be bad. It's hard to tell exactly. I would try a power supply that you know works. Also, disconnect everything except mouse, keyboard, and monitor. You should get something on the screen with only those 3 things attached. Leave unconnected the HDs, CDrom, usb card readers, printers, etc... Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Gaming

I have 2 KDS VS-190's, along with a older Geforce 3 card - after recently re-installing this card - I can only get a signal on one of the monitors. Tested individualy and all work well and I have yet to see any other problems with any of them, but when used together they no longer work.

My point is that, these types of things can happen, and both components may work flawlessly otherwise. For me it was just a matter of switching the monitors to the seperate computers.
