Help please

My computer has been running perfectly with no problems. Its fairly new and running windows xp professional, pentium 4. I used the computer the other night as normal with no problems. I switched it on today and for some reason it runs through the usual xp logo and then the screen goes black and it sits for about a minute before going to the blue welcome screen and logging on as normal. I have run a diagnostic of the harddrive and it says its fine, and a system restore didnt do anything. Any idea why this has happened, it used to boot up very quickly but now sits on a black screen beofre going to the log on. I havent installed any new hardware or software recently.

Please help
Sxxxx

lol, is it that important? i mean, im sorry that it adds one whole minute to your booting up process, but as long as nothing is running improperly, i wouldnt be worried....

It was probably optimising your boot files. Or one of several other boot-time maintanence tasks.

If it continues or gets longer, you may want to check on your boot sequence. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

thats what i was going to suggest, but she says it goes black after the xp logo screen..... meaning its already booted from the hard drive.

Hi

Thnaks for the help. Its happening after the xp logo screen just before you get to the blue windows log on screen. It happens every time i boot the computer up. What should i be lookign for in the boot sequence?

And maxiderm, yes it is important even if its only a minute as its affecting the performance of my computer.

Sxxx
