Check out the great tutorials and guides at these sites:

http://www.videohelp.com/
http://www.doom9.org/

The texts should be able to walk you through the entire capture, compression, and mastering process.

Hope this helps,

Tranfering VHS to DVD

Hello

Wanted to let you know that I got my vcr connected to the computer and I can see my tapes on the Tv on screen. However I do not know what to do after that I am going to go back to the instructions. But if anyone could give me some simple information.

What program do I use to record. Do I save it in a temp folder.
How do I record to DVD.

Any information would be helpful.

The best program I have come across for recoding video is AVI_IO
A cheap shareware program that captures video, spans across drives and no matter how long the recording is there is no loss of sync.

AVI_IO can be found at
http://www.nct.ch/multimedia/avi_io/

also on doom9 web site.

I have tried DVD movie factory without much success.
The way I record and produce my DVD's is time consuming but the finished product is very good.
