Format C: Write Protect Error

Hey guys and girls

i have a mmx windows 98 laptop and i'm trying to format c drive. I use the boot disk and all the commands successfully but just as it finishes the format it says its terminated fromat, write protect error. anyone know how to fix this so i can successfully format c drive????

Have you tried repartitioning the disk with fdisk?
