Web browser problems in XP

This problem just started happening last night....when my computer first boots up my web browser works fine, after 5 minutes or so it wont work any more. My connections to everything else still work. I use IE6 but i also just downloaded netscape7.1 and it has the same problem as ie. any advice?

What do you mean by won't work?

Like you click on the icon and nothing happens?

or

It's as if it's not connected yet you still are?

What type of internet connection do you use? IE, dial up, dsl, cable etc.

sorry...i use cable..and it wont connect to any pages, it acts as if my internet connection is down. This happens wiht both ie6 and netscape7. If i open cmd and do a ping www.yahoo.com it pings it like im connected(avg like 30ms or something) yet if i open my browser i cant connect.
