problem with ati drivers and my 8500?

Hi guys. I tried updating my drivers for my radeon 8500 today and got a error after it was done installing the last bit of stuff. The error message i got was, "Setup was unable to complete installation. Try to setup your diplay adpater with a standard VGA driver before running setup." Does anyone know how to solve this? I've tried several omega drivers and the official Ati drivers on the Ati site and still get the same error. Thanks.

sounds like windows hasn't loaded any drivers, goto add/remove programs, look for video drivers, remove all display drivers(Omega/ATI etc.), restart, let windows pick up the vid. card, then reinstall the ATI or Omega drivers, Just be sure to remove all (video) drivers first. Should work.

good luck,

Actually i repeated that process about 4 times with both 2 omega drivers and 2 official ati drivers. I may think about reinstallling windows if this keeps up.
