Outdoors All computer games crashing #&@!

For some reason any game I try to play (tried KOTOR, NWN, MOHAA, etc), crashes at some point during gameplay. NWN's error information says the problem file is nwmain.exe, but KOTOR's says there's a problem with atioglxx.dll. So I dont know what's the problem but it may be the ati drivers. :|
I've got a 9600pro with the wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-00-040322a-014266c drivers (whichever that is)
I would go and download the stupid 9.6mb (do they really need it to be that BIG?, and thats ONLY the driver, no control panel) latest drivers but i'm off from college for 2 weeks and i dont feel like spending 5 hours downloading a file on 26.4k dialup.

This is really ticking me olff because I just got KOTOR and I WANT TO PLAY IT, but I cant because it just keeps crashing and I lose my progress (the 1 or 2 minutes of it that i manage to make anyway).

I may just reinstall windows but since I dont know the problem I dont know if it would still crash or not after I got it finished reloading, which would make that a total waste of time if it did still crash.

I am STILL having this problem. Even Starcraft:BW has closed to desktop a few times. Tried playing BF1942 and after a minute in a game my computer restarted! I haven't gotten any help from any of the game companies or ATI. They all say to update stuff even though I tell them I ALREADY HAVE. I'm thinking my video card is screwed up but I dont want to go and get a new card until I can figure out what is screwing my computer up. If it is the video card it's fine because I've been planning to upgrade anyway.

Doesn't anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem???

you might find this helpful http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewto...&forum=49&sp=0 other than that googleing the two files you stated you have issues with shows several threads that might be key to helping you out I'd suggest reading a few of them.

I have already tried looking on that forum, and googling various terms dealing with my problem. Nothing has come up that offers any solutions except updating drivers.

had the same problems. ATI cat drivers just suck. go nvidia! solved all my problems but if you must stay with an ATI, try turning off Fastwrites. Also, try setting it to AGP 4X instead of AGP 8X. both never worked for me but you can give this a try lol.

reinstall the drivers for the MB - the GART driver may be messed up. Also, set all the AGP settings down and turn off the extra's in the BIOS - so go to the lowest AGP setting, turn off fast writes, sidebanding, options for lowered wait states, etc... after that, reove the drivers (completely - may need to use a third party app for it) and reinstall the card. Then reinstall Direct X - after this run some tests and see if you have any probs. If not then , start cranking stuff back on in the BIOS.

Actually I am planning to get a 6800 (non UT/GT) soon.
