help on my new system

Hi this is my first time building a computer and im not really sure what im doing. So far these are the parts ive decided on or have available

cpu: amd xp 3000+
mother board: asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
ram: 2x Corsair Value Select 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 Memory
hard drive: Maxtor 120GB / 7200 / 8MB / 9.3 / ATA-150 Serial ATA Hard Drive
video card: ati radeon 9600

So can anyone tell me if this is okay or should i change some of the parts and also what i still need in the computer...oh im planning on some gaming and also starting to learn encoding.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Price is always something to keep in mind. Would also need at least a CD drive, but have the option of floppy, cdrw, cd, dvd and dvdrw drives to name a few. Case and PS, also a sound card if you're doing gaming. Also look into some additional cooling for gaming and such.

hmm thanks for the suggestions, yeah ive decided on the sony dvdrw and also chieftec case which comes with ps....but wat im looking for now is a fan is there any thats particularly better then others or are they all relatively the same?
