question about dual channel

hello, I am kinda confused a little bit. Is dual channel ram specail ram? Could I just stick matching DDR Ram sticks in my dual channel motherboard and it work? Or do I need "Dual Channel Ram"?

I hope this question is not too stupid.

You can use matching common DDR memory sticks that are of the same size, rating, and manufacturer. The only time you may notice problems is when running cheap, generic memory in a dual-channel configuration.

You do not need true dual-channel memory. Manufactuers selling dual-channel kits certify stability (in trade for more money), but more often than not, any two matching sticks of memory will work perfectly fine.

yeah, the twinx or hyperx memory kits you get from Corsair or Kingston are "tuned".

You kinda trust that there is a benefit there.

But I am not too sure how dualchannel works in a 3 slot motherboard. eg if you got a tuned pair and then a single...I assume that the mobo would default to seeing all three separately. However, I do not really know.
