Before you clean the registry, I suggest you do the following:

1. Delete all system tmp files. Optionally, you can delete all .gid files.
2. Delete all Internet temp files
3. Back up your registry by exporting (place the cursor at the top of the registry tree and got to file/export)
4. Remove all web pages you find in Zone Map
5. Remove all Last Visited items
6. Clean all ocurrences of MRU. If you do this, you need to rename the items in the list and adjust the MRUList so it shows as many items as there are in the list. For example, if you have items a...q and you decide to remove everything except b, e, f, m, l, o (six total), then you have to rename these items so you have a, b, c, d, e, f (six total); then edit MRUList to leave only a...f in any order, let's say ceadfb. Sounds complicated? Well you only have to do this if you want to keep some of the items, which is not needed. You can deleted every item (including MRUList), except the Default.

Hopes this helps.
