windows media player 9 problems

i'm having problems with my windows media player. for some reason, whenever i turn on my computer (after my startup screen appears), windows media player comes on. i've looked in options to try to stop this from happening, but i can't find out how. can anyone help? thanks.

try running msconfig from the run command, then going to the startup tab and see if it's listed anywhere in there. also check to see if theres a link to it in the startup folder under programs on the start menu.
