Hmm, interesting. If they both installed to the 'WINDOWS' directory, then you don't have two installs, you just reinstalled over another installation. If you have two 'WINDOWS' directories, like 'WINDOWS' and 'WINDOWS.000', or something to that effect. Then you should be able to boot into your first install and remove the 'WINDOWS.000' or whatever the offending directory is.
It sounds like maybe you just have two instances of the same install in your boo.ini file though.
If that's the case, right-click 'My Computer', click on the 'Advanced' tab, and then click on the 'Settings' button in the 'Startup and Recovery' section. Click the 'Edit' button and Notepad should open up with the boot.ini file. Just remove the last line and save the file. Next time you reboot, you should not be given the choice of booting into two different XP's.
