Kids What could I be doing wrong!?!

Ok, I have an order for 64 custom computers to a school district and I just started making the computers today. I have two weeks to finish the project. I have built 4 computers so far. all of them have onboard video and none of them have worked. They are using the biostar U8668-D motherboard with a 2.8GHz P4 533FSB processor with 512MB of PC2100 Ram. The Motherboard supports up to a 3.06 and also supports 2GB of PC2100 Ram.

The problem I am having is it doesn't appear to be booting. I am not getting any video from the onboard video. I am also not hearing any post. I have switched out CPU's, RAM, even tried putting in an AGP video card with the same results. I am fresh out of ideas. If anyone has any thoughts on some step I must be missing to have four products produce the same effect please tell me!

Many times boards are shipped with the cmos jumper in the clear position to save drain on the battery .

I tried clearing the CMOS to no avail. But I will double check. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Just remember that even though most boards ship with auto SPD type functions that pick up the memory speeds and CPU, some boards might need jumper set to exactly the right clock speed. I have not checked the board yet...but be sure of that.

Other than jumpers...I do not know.

If it is the same on all of them..it does not sound like the board...

Have you built several complete machines or have you just swapped components in and out of one case to start with?

That is all I can think of at moment

I saw on the website that there are several versions of that mobo...I chose to download the v7 manual as it was the last one and I assumed it was the latest.

When I downloaded this one...there is a note at the back that says in the event that the mobo does not boot to correct clock...you have two options:

1) Clear CMOS [you tried this]

2) Press the Insert key on KB and Power button simultaneously and hold until the screen appears.

Try this mate...it might work.

Fingers crossed...I know these sorts of stupid issues personally...if it is this...thank the lord it was not something deeper.

Good luck

I have done multiple computers and swapped out components to no avail...

I am going to try the keyboard thing right now just to see. If that is it amazing. I will be back in a few minutes!

Ok Keyboard thing didn't work, but while I had the keyboard plugged in I noticed that the light on the keyboard flickered real quick then stayed off. So I started looking at the PS and do you know what I found? The power supply was set to 220V! Arghhh. Switched it over to 110 and it still didn't work. So I put together another pc real quick with all new parts and tried it on 110V. Success! So now goes the process of finding out what parts I must've burned out.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I don't know if I would have ever looked at the power supply without your help. Thank you.

Oh that is good...

The PSU would have normally intercepted that sort of thing and stopped current from reaching components?

I am in Australia and I received PSU of which one had been left at 110V (we are on 240V lines) and it fried the PSU, but all the components were ok. I sent it back and got a replacement PSU.

Good result anyway man...all the best

thanks.

well i don't think just the power supply is fried, I'm still getting current to the board. All the fans are spinning up. But no post or anything else. i am hoping its just the motherboard, and not the processor. I'll find out tonite.
