Windows XP: my desktop icons turned 'ugly' (256 mode)

Hi people!

I recently did a Windows XP update (was installing a Nvidia display adapters 2003 update for XP) and after the restart, all my desktop icons turned into 256 color mode?!

Everything else works fine, the color depth in my Display properties is set to 16 (also tried 32) but the icons still remain 'ugly'.

I also updated my drivers and everything..I don't know what else to do..I also tried editing the registry following instruction from this web page:

But it also didn't help...

My games play fine, everything else is OK. but those icons...well u already know..ugly little things.. =)

Did you try switching the screen to low color and then back to high?
