Computer won't start period!!!!

I went to start my computer this morning and it did not want to. When I pushed the power button; the case, power supply, and processor fans all spun for about 2 or 3 seconds and then it just stopped. I have added no new hardware in the last 3 weeks, removed nor added any programs, and in any other way manually altered the configuration. It did not even get as far as to show the booting information on the monitor. To try and find the problem, I have taken my sound and video card out and changed from a 512 SDRam stick to a 512 DDR stick to see if maybe my ram went bad before I upgraded to my new 512 DDR. None of this affected it at all. It only tries to start once. After that it will do nothing. I have to unplug it or turn the PS off to get it to try again. Always getting the same response. Any help would be appreciated.

Try unplugging your computer from the wall for about 30 seconds. This "uncharges" the system somehow. Reboot.

This happened to me too.

I had this happen to me and what it turned out being was the clear CMOS jumper was set to 2-3 or clear and would not allow the computer to boot. It would try one time then not try again until the power had been completely recycled.

Ok, I have cleared the CMOS with the jumper and no change. I have unplugged the computer and disconnected all cables inside the computer and left it in this state for 8 hours while I was at work. I plugged it back in and still same response. Now, I did try running it with out the harddrive and it actually stays on. So does this mean my harddrive is out?

What sort of hard drive is it?

Sounds like it was something to do with the power to the hard drive. You play with that and it fixed it...

With SCSI sometimes you have issues like that with the termininators...

In this case could have been some sort of misconnection between the power cable and the hard drive.
