Netscape mail problem

Hi i'm having problems recieving and sending mails from netscape 7.1 and i get this error message saying "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: CLIENT AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED. USE ESMTP EHLO AND AUTH. . Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again." I have checked the email and its right and i've had netscape for several or years now and this is the first this has happen and i have used it everyday. If this topic has been brought up before sorry but i'm just looking for help on this problem.

Sounds like Netscape might be your problem.

Have you uninstalled/reinstalled to see if that fixed it?

Does you ISP offer a Webmail interface? If you can login there and still not in Netscape, that's pretty much confirms it's the software and not your ISP.

yea i have uninstalled it and installed it back but no luck with that. Yes my isp has a webmail interface and i can log into there, i can also log into netscape but i can't seem to get or send mail from it.

Would you be willing to try Mozilla a try? It's basically the core of Netscape.

They've got Thunderbird which is a stand-alone e-mail client.

Or, you can use the Mozilla client and get the same as Netscape.

Here is what I did and it worked. Go to netscape.com. Click on your mail tab at top left of page. Fill in your user and pass. See how much space you have in your mail acct. Delete your trash bin or other emails that you don't need. This should grant you space to send your new emails. It worked for me, it might work for you.
