Looking to start a computer business... need advice
If this is not in the appropriate section, please feel free to move it. Anyhow, I am looking to start my own computer business. I was planning on starting with service/repair, building new systems, and other consulting, operating out of home until I raise enough capital to get a shop going. As time goes on, I would probably expand to offer network solutions, web hosting, printing/copy/fax, etc. I am pretty well-versed in tech-knowledge, but I am a novice when it comes to business operations.
My main concern is finding places to get components and software at wholesale prices or cheaper. I would like both a national supplier and local suppliers (I'm from Pennsylvania). Also, I have heard so much about becoming a reseller, but which companies should I apply to be a reseller and exactly how do I go about doing that? I really don't want to be restricted to any one particular brand, as I want to give my customers a "made to order" feel. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
BUSINESS OWNERS FROM PA:
I also wanted to get all the legal aspects straightened out. I know there is some sort of tax form I need to fill out with the state (though I don't know specifics), as well as a fictitious name form (if applicable). Are there any others that I need to fill out?
I have things such as end of year taxes and merchant account set-up ironed out already (I believe).
Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to respond.
