invalid system disk error after setup
I have an HP Pavilion 522c. The NTLDR is missing error came up the other day. I tried HP system recovery but it failed. Then I used my XP Pro SP1 cd to reformat the whole drive and install a clean copy. The setup went fine until it restarted after copying files then I got the Invalid system disk error. I talked to HP and they said that the reason the OS won't install is that Windows does not have the proper drivers for my system. Last time I checked Windows can install at least enough to boot into any system, especially one as old as mine (bought in Aug, 2002). They say I have to get their recovery disks to install it right. Is there a way to make this system work without wasting money with them? BTW, the HD that came with the system went bad in this whole process. I am trying to use a Quantum Fireball that I know is good instead. I tried Installing WINXP to the drive on another system then moving it to this one and it still didnt load. HELP!! The motherboard is an MSI MS-6367 w/ 768 MB RAM and an Athlon XP 2400+
