2.1 speaker suggestions

Hi all, I plan on picking up a set of 2.1's soon. My budget is roughly 80 bucks, a little more if I'm impressed
What are your suggestions? I'm looking for good music playability, games not a concern, and possibly style. I'm drawn to the silver Creatures by JBL, and the cheaper logitech x220's. Any thoughts or good websites?

Dale

ps. the Klipsch's are not an option

I'd go for the Logitechs myself, since Klipsch isn't an option. I love my Z560's.

The best $100 bucks you will ever spend. Pay a little more, and get the Klipsch...they rock.

Logitech Z-2200 from newegg is only 115, they're better than the klipsch's!

What it comes down to is quality and how much of it you want. Good 2.1 speakers will run you 100 I'm afraid. Anything less has a tendency of belching at high volumes. But if you dont play loud, its all good on the cheaper stuff.

I have a cheap pair of Benwin cost about 20 bucks. Sounds great with my Muse 5.1 DVD Soundcard. Base and treble are great for a 2.1 system

I 3rd the Klipsch option. Best $99 you'll ever spend. Better than the Logitechs without question (imo). But they don't just sound better, they are built better. Solid, sturdy, and built well. I own a set and I've taken them apart and have inspected the insides. I expected to be disappointed when I first exposed the guts of my speakers, but I ended up being impressed. Good solder joints, thick gauge wire used, flat-spade-type connections wherever a removable connection was needed. Even decent baffling material in the satilites. It was only then I knew I made the right choice to go with Klipsch.

I recommend them. You won't be sorry.

pair that with any decent sound card and it should suit most people's needs.
