Outdoors Wndows xp instillation HELP

Hi folks,
I am reinstalling windows xp professional after i had to wipe my harddrive after a couple of viruses destroyed everything. I have ran fdisk and formated the drive. I start the instilation and while the program is copying files i get several error messages saying that windows cannot copy the files. There where like 30 of them..here is a list of some the files:

wdmaud.drv
driver.cab
tosdvd.sys
tsbvcap.sys
usbcamd.sys
vdmindvd.sys
wowfax.dll
usrshuta.exe

these are just some of the files. I tried skipping them. once i got to the setup an error message comes up.

Fatal Error

an error has encountered that prevents setup from continuing.

setup was unable to initilize network components
the specific error code is 2

press ok to view the setup log.

This is really strange to me. I have installed xp pro from this cd before and have had no problems.

will some one help me out

thanks,

BM

I have seen this two times personally:

1st time: CD was dirty. (use a lint-free cloth and wipe from center to edge)

2nd time: I discovered I had faulty memory! I verified it by using MemTest86+

Have you done a 'low-level format'? Maybe remnants of the virus remain

there aint much left to check....do you have another cd-rom drive to try?

or a spare comp to just see if the XP cd works right?

make sure your pc is not overclocked and the bios virus monitor is off, during the install. re-enable it after installing.

If you've done too much of formatting on a HDD, it could also damage it.

Did you get any problems when installing Win 98?

Try using Killdisk to zero out the drive.

MBR doesn't get written over in a format.

Hi,

The dvdrom i have works fine and i had no problems with 98. I am going to try my other computer tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

I am going to check out the bios for the virus thing.

I have only formatted about 4 times so far.

i have used kill disk before i reinstalled the first time. still didnt help.i will try it again to make sure.... how long does it usually take to wipe the whole drive..

thanks,
BgMn
