a thanks to everyone

hey all, just wanted to post a thank you for all the help I've gotten recently. Trying to work with photoshop and dreamweaver as a newbie was fun, but exhausting too. I'm done with the pages I'm working on, they are far from great but I'm thinking I might get a B . Here's a link to the pages, since you all helped it's only right you get top see them. (Just don't expect much). Their fairly simple, A lot of flaws I know about but decided for right now I'm sick of working on it. I didn't really want something professional as their fun. If you see something that could be fixed or bettered let me know. A few issues I never resolved was:
1) when setting a picture as a percentage, the hotspots don't automatically expand and contract when the photo does

2) how to get wallpaper to stretch, I tried a million codes and nothing worked

Altogether I really liked photoshop, dreamweaver was okay, but I think entering code would have been faster

here's the link -edit-

p.s. I'm gonna take the link down after awhile just cause I don't want it here permanent (paranoid)

My suggestion - use something other than Javascript. As far as I know it isn't available, and my IE doesn't have it.

Off-topic, but where can I download the Javascript runtime files, since now Microsoft hates Sun and vice versa so they cut support.

sao95, to answer your first question, you cant have an "image map" (hotspots) change dynamically with the picture (as a percentage). For this kind of stuff, it is impossible to do with HTML/images. This is one reason people have learned "Flash".

As far as background images 'stretching', there is no good way to do it. You could enlarge the picture itself, but it might be a large file size for people to download. Otherwise, you *may* be able to stick the picture inside a Table and make the table as wide as the page. I'm not sure if that would work or not, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway.

ArcticFox,
Although two sites have been suggested for downloading Java.. I always found the Sun website hard to navigate. I would suggest heading over to: Java.com which is much easier (and geared towards home users). (congrats on 2004 posts.. I'm inching along too)

I believe you're thinking of JScript which is MS's knock off of Javascript.

Javascript is pretty universal

also note
Javascript does NOT equal Java
They are entirely different
Java = Sun
Javascript = Netscape

articfox- I used javascript? where? Must be a dreamweaver thing, but give me examples as I didn't realize...

rpertusio- thanks for the answer on hotspots, I wasn't sure if it could be fixed or not, I asked my prof and he said it should stretch, but I couldn't get them to so... as for wallpaper, it will stretch inside a table, but I didn't know how to work with layers so...
