Systems I E Lock-up

Can't find this one handily soooo! Running a tecra 8200 w/ win98SE pre-installed as well as IE-6 ... Had norton but don't like it and now run AVG. Even before the anti-virus switch we have had continual probs w/ lock-up when browsing especially if ya dare stop and actually read and or type something, the server seems to stop responding for up to a minute!!(nothing sent or received) Have disabled 3rd party browsing and did a file cleanup... No joy,, this thing is driving us nuts as there is no rhyme or reason to when it will stop responding, for however long it takes to rest-up I guess!!! Pls Help before the wife throws the thing out the window.... Marty

P.S. as an aside how in the world do you access configmg?? the norton stuff left behind something called symevnt.386 and it is hindering start-up, Heck maybe it causes IE6 lock-up.Hmmmm. We are obviously technology challenged here!

did you delete the folder manually or use the uninstall program with it?

did the uninstall and it said something like (some stuff couldn't be uninstalled) .... made sure it was'nt running etc.. and uninstall again and it can't do it!! probably needs the original install disk but since it was pre-installed I don't have that!! Kind of a mess there huh? Marty
