toshiba t2130cs laptop

I have been given two toshiba t2130cs laptops and I am a total dumbell concerning laptops and how they work. I know that they are obsolete (486) models but I would like to at least turn them on if I can. the batteries are dead or at least I cannot seem to get either one of them to do anything. Do I have to have an expensive power cord to plug them in with as if so I will just trash them. Looks like from the web site (all in chinese but the pictures) that there is a cord which just plugs in the wall and has a plug for the computer. Anyone have one of these that can give me some help? I have lots of software for 486 class computers to play on these with.

Misc

I recently acquired a t2130 also and find it to be a surprisingly friendly piece .. we run win95. The cord you seek should be available almost anywhere including wal-mart and or radio shack!! if it will plug into the recepticle on the lappy and the other end in the wall .... no probs. I am saying that no it is nothing special...Try the holding of the pwr button in whith no battery and no a/c applied for 20 seconds or so then plug er in, and turn er on!! Good luck!! Marty

Thanks MLV I will just look for one and plug these in and make one of them work to play some old games on at least. I have a full copy of win 3.1 and even win 95 if I can run it. win 95 should run if there is enough memory. Do you know if there is any way to add memory to it or is it just what comes with it? One of these has a bad lcd but is supposed to work with a monitor know nothing about the other one. Maybe parts if nothing else.

No sweat .. Yes any cord that will plug in will work (I just did 2 other cords that were around the house to make sure). Win 95 on floppys is the way to go. We use pcmcia hard drives for additional storage for this machine and others ( cheap on EBay), they can hold and run games ... even Internet explorer if ya don't want to use up local resources. One advantage is that if you have more than one lappy you can keep same prog.s and such for both.. Heck have some fun w/ em ... Later, Marty
