Windows Me Start Menu Gone?

I have a friend who called me saying his start menu was missing (gone). I asked him to check his monitor area size, check to see if it was moved to another side of the screen, and also asked him if he recently installed something on the system. None of this was the solution. I just recently formatted/re-installed the hard drive and everthing was operating fine. All of the parts are brand new and I have faith that it is probably not a installation error that I caused (unless he installed something incorrectly or accidently changed a setting...which may be the case). Anyway, could you offer me any solutions on what it could be?

So you're saying that when he clicks on Start, nothing pops up?

Sounds like it may be set to auto-hide and maybe not at the bottom of the screen. Tell your friend to run the cursor around the perimeter of the screen and maybe it will pop up.

Hey. I tried both of those options. I will try to tell him to do that again osprey4 b/c it may be that. He may just be overlooking it (he's a lil computer iliterate). Any other suggestions on what else it could be? Maybe a registry entry or deep setting within control panel? Thanks for the help!

Atomic Rooster, the start menu bar is completely missing from what I understand.

Have him hold the CTRL-ESC keys. This should activate it for the moment showing you where it is.

It could simply be dragged to far to the bottom. Have him run the mouse all the way to the bottom and look for it to turn into a double arrow. If it does left click the mouse while having the double arrow and drag up.
