Systems farcry and ATI 9800 xt

HI,
Anyone else getting artifacts playing farcry, I get them after playing for an hour. everything only set to high in options not very high. p4 2.8 with 1024 mb ram and 9800 xt not overclocked have no problems with any other games and have plenty of cooling in case. But I think this game is overheating my 9800 xt?

Sounds like it is overheating. Try openig up your case and putting a desk fan blowing in it. If the artifacts stop then that is your problem and you need to do something about your cooling in the case.

Yea my Radeon 9700 is overheating after playing Far Cry. FC is an incredibly demanding game. So right now I have to leave my side panel off on that Antec server case.

Ever watched satellite TV and had the screen scramble a bit?

Part of that scrambled look is left over pieces (pixels) from the previous frame of television. In this case its leftovers from the previous frame of gameplay.

Is it the stock cooling on the card? What kind of case cooling do you have? Definitely sounds like you need better cooling.

My Tyan Tachyon 9700pro only gets as high as 43°C while playing FarCry. And that was after a couple of hours non-stop. Water cooling has it's perks.

When I had the stock cooling on it, the highest I saw it was around 65°C. That is well within the safe area of the card though.

Figured out why Far Cry keeps overheating my video card.. since it was locked up in the case I never looked at the GPU fan.. and it burned out Great, now I gotta take it out, use a spare that has a working fan, and start looking at a good heatsink. I don't want to buy the Artic Silencer because it's too big..
