Windows XP Startup Problem

Hello everyone,

I had McAfee AntiVirus on my computer. Yesterday, I tried to install Norton AntiVirus, as well as those random automatic Windows updates, at the same time. For no reason at all, the installations for both programs just stalled, and my computer slowed to a crawl and couldn't do anything at all, not even shut down or close any programs with control-alt-del. I then turned my computer off manually, and when it got to the screen where you log into Windows XP, I clicked on my name and nothing happened...it just froze. I tried this a few times; once, I was able to get into the regular screen, but then it froze; the other times, I just froze at the log-in screen. I have an exam that needs to be taken tomorrow on this computer, and I need it to be fixed ASAP! What is the problem here, and how do I fix it? Thanks

Did you try to bootup in safe mode?
While its starting to boot up just before it gets into the windows boot screen start hitting F8 and boot up into safe mode

Make sure you don't have both mcafee and norton installed... that is bad news.
