slow internet speeds after format?

Before i formatted, my speeds were awesome, and i couldnt complain (Cogeco Cable with 5mps).

Now afgter i formatted, i;ve noticed that my speeds dropped alot, pings in games are higher, etc etc.

I noticed a process on my other computer and now on this one that was never there before (wuauclt.exe). It is supposively a legal process for WinME, but i am runnin WinXP SP1. Read up on that here http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/wuauclt/

Anyways, i am really aggravated by this... and i am wondering if theres anything i could do to get my speeds back up...

Thanks

Read here:
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojcultb.html

It says it is a trojan.
Troj/Cult-B is a backdoor Trojan which allows a remote intruder to access and control the computer via IRC channels.

Try running The Cleaner for trojan removal.

Free for 30 days.

Update the definitions.

BTW, is this why my computer had new updates to download every other day?

I suppose it could be someplace else. I would backup the registry prior to working on it. Open the regedit tool and select "export" and it will save a copy of the registry in case things don't go well. It must have a .reg extension to be replaced.

I ran "The Cleaner" , nothing came up. I updated prior to scan.

I ran a search for it in the registry and i also found it. Maybe you could tell me how it goes after you've deleted it?
