Help accessing files on network

I have just setup a wireless network with an office pc connected to a adsl router and a laptop connected up to the router via a wireless AP. It all works well and both computers can access the internet no problems however I now want to setup both computers so they can access each others files.
The office machine runs XP and the laptop runs Win98SE. I have set them both up with the same workgroup name and enabled file sharing on both computers. I left the Ip adresses as obtain automatically as that seems to work for the internet connection.
Im just not sure what else I need to do here.

Thanks in advance.

Are you able to ping each machine?

You have to check that Windows XP has the NetBEUI protocol installed in order to work with your 98SE laptop.

You also need to make sure the laptop(with 98SE) has the NetBEUI protocol installed too. If no then that might be your problem.

Send a message via AIM to maxiderm
its easier just to run XP on all wireless networks because XP is just built for it. i say you backup your data, reformat, and run xp on the laptop.

For the love of god, let NetBEUI die!

All you need to do is either turn on the guest account or create a matching user account on the XP machine (I suggest the latter). Since XP uses a more stringent security system, user creditials must match in order for shares to be accessed.
