S-Video editing

i was wondering if i could use a s-video cable to connect my camcorder to my nvidia geforce 4 ti 4600 to do some editing, and rerelasing it on cd. is this possiable?

read your manual or box, but it is probably a video output from your geforce. if the book tells you that your card is video in, then it should be okay for what you want to do, but once again, check that the s-video socket is a video input. otherwise, you'd only be able to output from your pc onto your cam. you need separate connections to the soundcard for your audio, btw.

it's a two way connection BUT (notice the BIG BUT) your video card needs extra circuitry to handle video in. afaik the gpu chip on the card can handle video in as standard, but the card itself must have the correct circuitry to connect a video input to the gpu. this costs extra money, so it's time for a new video card or video capture card. a tv card should do the trick, but the one i have has CRAPPY recording resolution and software, so that's probably not the best way to go.
