Can't browse with IE

OK, I have this laptop that can get on the network, ping website addresses (IP and name), update applicaitions over the internet from the app, but CANNOT browse itself.

I get cannot find server all the time! I downloaded ie6setup.exe from another computer, and accessed it from the laptop to install, it loaded it fine and downloaded everything, installed and rebooted, same thing!!! The connection specs in IE are good so what is the deal!?!?

Check and see if proxy server settings are enabled by accident

Tools - Internet Options - connections - Lan settings -

yep tried all that, Mozilla works as I also expected.

No proxy settings, that is a good call though! I have seen that one before.

Ok, here it is, ran spybot again after he said he already cleaned his system, cleared more crap and now runs great.

I began using Mozilla when my IE was wacked a year or so ago. I fixed my IE problem by reformatting sometime later but still continue using Mozilla.
