uh hello there,

i mean with some Bios setup (well, i never do Bios setup cause i don't know about it but now wants to know ) it's about computer security about unorthorized data tranfer. just curious if one pc does not have internet conncection and other network via cable, infrared and wireless card in cpu, well, does Bios somehow make unorthorized data transfer happen with some commucation devices other than mentioned above? it's about like stealing this pc's files by another pc. ok, could that happen?

oh i am using windows XP, Asus P4V533-MX motherboard.

thanks for replying.

the bios would not have much to do with this. it basically justs starts the computer, hands control to the operating system (linux or windows or whatever) and sits there quietly, mostly inactive. to transfer data between pcs, you need a network connection wired or wireless. that would suggest a device plugged into the pc, or a cable from the com or printer ports, including any usb, firewire, lan or printer port and more.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to do

the bios has nothing to do with basic networking all you would really need to do with it is make sure your onboard lan is enabled

theres also some stuff for like network boot and stuff but thats pretty much for companys who want to run diskles workstations or ghost alot of drives so they don't have to install the operating system hundreds of times

there is also the wake on lan function which just boots the computer remoptley when another computer on the network tries to access it but it won't be any less secure than if it were already turned onand you dont need to worry about someone turning it on from the internet (after thinking about it this is what it seams like you are talking about)
