oh boy... another media player problem

ok techimo surfers.

i am having the worst luck ever.

i dont know whats wrong... i ran ad-aware, virus scan, spy sweeper...

but my windows media files seem corrupt.

when i open them my firewall says "the program has changed since the last time it communicated over the internet. If you did not recently update this program, it may contain a trojan."

what really is stumping me is that... i have my virus scan definitions updated, and it didnt catch anything

now none of my media files work.

anybody have a clue o.O?

I'm assuming it's Windows Media Player?

Is there some autoupdate feature that's turned on?

no i left it off, im positive its not auto-update... i am afraid to allow the program to acess the internet because maybe it will d/l unwanted malware or whatnot.

also, the media player icon is just a generic box with a blue border. the original icon is gone.

i have now uninstalled media player, but it just reverted back to the old one and i think that has the same problem also

media player tries to access the internet every so often...

----

in my registry, there is a startup command for media player

"Mswspl" "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"

those seem harmless, but i think my media player has been altered somehow?

----

edit

well i deleted that start up reg key, deleted media player.

and now it seems fine... or i hope.

im going to create a seperate account on my computer and disable installing... im sick of all this spyware junk.
