Good VHS to DVD program

I'm not sure if this is the place for software reviews, but I've been beating my head against the wall in frustration trying to capture video from my VHS collection and burning to DVD and I finally found something that works well.

I've tried ULead Video Studio 7, Nero 6 Vision Express, Roxio 7 and many others, but none of them give me the quality in terms of video clarity and having audio and video in sync when I'm done.

I finally found something that works... Power Producer 2 Gold from Cyberlink,... I hardly expected much in the way of results, but I was really surprised whenI tried the Demo version.

I capture from my VCR using a Data Video DAC-100 to my computer, and the results I've gotten so far are amazing... I've done three VHS tapes so far and the finished product looks as good on DVD as the VHS source, sound and audio are in sync from beginning to end and I don't get any of the pops and snaps on the audio that some DVD writing programs produce... it even faithfully copies surround sound if that was on the tape.

What's really nice is how quickly this program will complete a project from capture to final burn... it took me 4 hours to capture a 1 hr 40 min. VHS tape, set up menus and chapters and then burn the DVD along with creating a VOB file.

This program has limited (and sometimes confusing) editing capability compared to ULead or Nero 6, but if you just want to convert from VHS to DVD, trim a little off the start or end of the capture and not lose any quality, this program is an inexpensive option compared to some of the bigger name programs.

Power Producer 2 Gold does produce chapters fairly easily, though not a slick looking as Ulead Video Studio 7, but you can do motion menus and they work fairly well... a really neat feature is the option to add an auto starting version of Power DVD player to the DVD as well for use on computers that don't have a software DVD player already.
