SVCD Video Format
Is there a way to burn an SVCD and maintain the same resolution, frame rate, and file size of the original file? Also, can this be done using Nero? I've looked but I haven't seen anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

nero will burn video as svcd, if you have the required mpeg2 plugin, but svcd is a standard, and uses it's own resolutions, but if your original is good quality, you can get some pretty good results, if you don't try to compress too much on a single cd.

Burning a cd will not alter a framerate or file size....that is done during its conversion, what type of file is the movie you're trying to burn?...avi..mpg...etc?

SVCD require the resolution to be like 764 by something. and a framerate of 30 fps. The plugin will convert it like paul9 said, if it is original good quality, it will burn just fine and youi won't notice a difference.

if you try to burn a huge video file to one disc, you have to compress more, and using lossy compression (svcd) will decrease your video quality, yes during encoding, but the final result is still going to cd. so you split the file and burn to multiple discs to keep a higher quality picture.
/edit: cool, 400 posts, and some AREN'T rubbish .

It's a pretty big avi. When it get's converted, it becomes way to big for the CD. What are some good programs to split avi's? I've tried using Windows Movie Maker, but that takes too damn long to load and re-render.
Thanks again.

Svcd doesn't require a set framerate, it's during it's conversion to .mpg that framerate is a factor
NTSC if the video source is 29,97 frames/sec (FPS)
NTSC Film if the video source is 23.976 frames/sec (FPS)
PAL if the video source is 25 frames/sec (FPS).
any film with these framerates can be burned as svcd in nero, if it's a .mpg file

Smidley....I use TMPGenc to convert .avi files to .mpg files. Yes the size does increase but you have an option to render 2 ( or 3 ) separate .mpg parts of a movie ready for nero to burn.
