I think the first one might be better. I'm no expert on Nvidia but it it is 256/256 instead of 128/128.

Umm the second one has higher values. [500/1000 as opposed to 475/900]

I think the first one is so much $ because it has some TV feature or something. If you're just using it for gaming on the computer, I'd say that you should choose the second card. Oh, and maybe it's more because it's a 5950 Ultra.

What are you planning on doing with the card?

The second one is slower. THe first one is too much $$$ for what its worth. Either buy a 5900 non ultra for $200, then OC it to 5950 speeds, or buy an ATI Radeon 9800 XT for about $20 more than the 5950 Ultra.

AAhhh, what the hell, go for the 9800 XT, screw all the other cards, you seem like someone already willing to spend near $400.

Or, if you are willing to wait a little bit, get the new 6800 U for $500 wich will smoke every card out today.

do u only like nVidia for some reason?

i have no experience with good video cards, but from everything i've read i'd go with a radeon 9800 pro which is just over $200

I was going to recomend the 9800 pro as well, but after seeing what kind of mony he is wanting to spend, why shouldn't he just put out a little more and get the best of the best of the best?

using it for gaming BTW

edit: none of the 9800pro clock speeds come close to the 5700

Its not always about clock speed. I thought you would know this by now with the battle between AMD and Intel. Out of all the cards above, the 5700 is actually the SLOWEST performor. Nunyadam has a 5700 Ultra OC way past 1ghz, but its still slower than my 5900 at 450/850.

You can get a 6800 NU for $300, which should out perform all of the cards above.

But like I said, the 9800 XT would be a lot better than the 5950.

Clock speed means nothing. (kind of like a 2Ghz AMD or Apple G5 can kick a P4 rated 1000Mhz higher) If you actually want the best....at the moment.... get a 9800pro/xt. If you're going to wait a month or two(which i would recommend) watch to see if the 6800 or the Radeon are in your price range. And then see wich one is better.
