Ghost Recon Install

I built a new system and tried to install ghost recon, It only gets to about 78% copied then I get a error refering to data2 on the cd.
I then opened the cd copied and tryied to paste it to c drive then a get a data2 error ( cyclic redudancy check ). Not sure what that means.
Does anyone know how I could copy the data2 file off the cd or what the cyclic redudancy check is ?
This by the way is a retail copy of Ghost Recon being installed on a 2800 atholon with 160gig hard drive with a 9800 xt radeon graphics card so I know it isn't a processor, graphics, or hd space issue.
I haven't noticed a lot of scratches either.
The cd drive is a lite-on cdrw.

What file does the error happen on? Which file are you trying to manually paste to the hard drive? Have you tried installing it on a different computer?

If it happens on a single file, it may be corrupt in some way (scratch, write error, etc.). Try looking for that file on Kazaa (some idiots actually share their whole hard drive) and you may get lucky. Otherwise, try finding someone with that CD who can send the file to you. Then transfer what you can of the CD onto your hard drive, include any files you can't transfer by previously said method, and burn a new one.

Hope that works for you and good luck.

If it says CD i would think it was CD. Try going to whatever computer shop u use or try looking for a topic about cleaning disks. Theres one around here somewhere.....

A cyclic redudancy check (CRC) is simply saying that it can't read from the CD (or what it is reading from the CD is corrupt.)

Clean the CD if possible.. or obtain a new CD. Depending on the 'warranty' on the CD, you may be able to send the CD back to the manufacturer for a replacement. Check the game manual for warranty details. I have received replacement discs from EA Games within a week of sending back a defective CD. The same may be true for UbiSoft.
