MS Outlook Problem

Ok, after losing all of my outlook data (emails, contacts, etc.), I decided to move the .pst file to my storage hard drive. For the most part it works fine except when I am writing an email and try to add recipients to the send list. I get the following message:
Quote:
The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted; or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help.
I know the file that it is looking for has been deleted but there is nothing that tells how to re-address this to the Contacts file on my Outlook Today shortcut bar.

I am using Outlook 2002, and have administer rights on an XP Pro machine. Any ideas on what’s wrong? Thanks in advance.

This MS KB article seems to fit your situation.

Starfury, although I could be wrong, I was under the impression that the contacts were stored in the .pst file. Incoming emails, and the contacts list on the shortcut bar update the .pst file that is being used. However, when creating a new email, outlook is trying to access the default location for the .pst file which no longer exists.

Osprey, thanks for the find but I am using Outlook 2002, I do not have it installed as a corporate or workgroup installation, and there isn’t any services under Tools (or any other that I can see).

Thanks so far guys. Any other possibilities from anyone?

I am not understanding this....
you moved the .pst file? you didn't just copy it?

If you moved it... then go to:
File > Data File Management > Add >
OK > browse to where you moved the file etc.

I did that, Tazzin. Mail is delivered to the new file...no problems. Also, the contacts folder on the shortcut bar corresponding to my new .pst file works fine. However, when I am creating a new email and want to use my contacts, I get the above message. I click Ok and an empty contacts window is opened (the window that allows you to import the names of people you wish to send to that should have the information from the contact on the shortcut bar).
