There are 4 pages of information/instructions here:

That should help

A "copy" of WinXP is not going to run on another machine. After installation it has to be registered with M$ or it will cease to operate after 30 days. M$ is not going to register a copy that is already registered on another pc. Oh yea this is also illegal.

If you want to partition a hard drive - your only logical choice IMO is PartitionMagic. Works wonderfully, I've used it many times without a single problem.

during install process of XP you will need to create a partition, only dont make this partition to the size of the disk, it will depend on everyone but I use a 10 GIG partition for the OS, then you add other partitions ntfs or FAT32.

You can use only that 10GB partition install XP, then go to Control Panel ---> Administrative Tool ----> Computer Magnament, looks for storage devices...

There you can create new partitions too....

Partition Magic is the one utility that I couldn't live without. However it is not needed to create partitions. You can create all the partitions you need with a Windows boot floppy or a Windows XP cd. Follow the link from rpertusio's post. If you want to change partition sizes after you have data on them and not lose the data than PM is the program to have. This cannot be done within Windows w/o PM.
