I have just been given a seagate 40 gb drive for it though. I have another computer as well but cant use it cause it cant do colours for games etc. so what i really want to know is how do i figure out what is in each one?

Usually by running a program that detects all the components. SiSoft Sandra identifys everything. Here you can d/l the free version.

Or use WCPUID to identify the cpu only.

I would guess if you have a pc with a 1.2 gig drive it is so old as to be nearly useless.

[edit: Jarhed7276 and elroy beat me to it!]

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, but...

I think PC Wizard 2004 would help you find out what is 'in' your computer.

Also, I haven't tried it, but EVEREST Home Edition might also provide some information. (The developer of a great program called 'AIDA32' has now joined Lavalys to help with the EVEREST software)
