W2K New install stays at startup logo

I have this new HDD 40G WD, I tried installing w2k pro -- everything went fine (i.e. partitioning, format, copy w2k files to hdd from cd etc), until the point when the pc restarted to the w2k actual setup.

The screen stays at window200 pro logo, and the blue animation at the bottom keeps moving... forever.. and it never starts up past this stage. It did not hang as the blue bar keeps moving...

anyone has idea whats going on? thanks.

If it really does take "forever", shut off the computer, turn it back on and try again. If I remember correctly, the first startup screen after installation takes a while so you may have just been being impatient.

If that doesn't work, reboot from the CD and start over. If you previously did a quick format, try a normal one. Also, I suggest using the NTFS file system for 2000 Pro.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Send a message via AIM to rpertusio
Does it allow you to enter Safe Mode or any other diagnostic mode?

Tap F8 just as (or before) the Win2K logo appears
