Memory prices sky rocketed?

It wasn't but a few months ago when you could buy a gig of dual channel ram from newegg for a little more than $150. Now neweggs cheapest gig of dual channel ram is over $200. What happened to memory prices? It use to be cheaper to get the dual 1 gig packages than to buy two seperate 512mb sticks, now its a lot cheaper to just buy two 512mb sticks. ANyone know why memory prices went up so high, and when they might come back down again?

i guess they went up due to a shortage in dram chips. the demand is high and the supply is low that is why the prices are going up, but i am sure that they will come back down again
