My MB wont post I tested the drive the memory and video card, but I dont have a compatible MB or CPU to swap. The CPU fan powers up, the HD LED lights up (on the drive) but no video and nothing else, there are no beep codes at all. does that mean the CPU or the MB is dead???

on some pc chips motherboards the cmos jumper comes in the "reset" position and you have to move it to the "normal" position to boot.

I had that problem when I first got this setup, however this has been my main computer for a year, I just bought a new MB/CPU combo and removed this to put in a MAME cabinet I built and now somewhere somehow I need to know what got messed up the CPU or MB in the move, the only other difference between when it worked and now is a. there is no "case" and b. the only connection I made to the MB is a Power switch, I did not connect any RESET or other switch etc to it.

I think if the cpu were fried that you wouldnt get anything...but I wont swear to it.

On the other hand...motherboards seem to go bad way more often than cpu's.

Have you tried resetting the bios?

and maybe you could try reseating the cpu in case it somhow shifted during the move...but its a longshot.

you didnt mention power supply.....because it could be missing one voltage or something similar....do you have another psu to try?

I did try resetting the BIOS, I also removed the cpu and inpsected it for physical damage/burns, and the PS is a 350W generic, but I connected it to an old Celeron 525 MB/CPU and it powered right up and posted so I think the PS is OK.

hard to say then without a spare cpu to try.

do you see any swollen capacitors on the motherboard??

you said it quit working when u moved it? (maybe static damage??)

could it be somehow grounding or shorting on the "case" it is in?

try it just sitting on a non static surface...in other words out of a case sitting on a motherboard box on the non static foam or whatever that it came in. Lots of times if it is shorting or touching a case, a mobo will power up but not go to video.
