Can't get IP from DHCP server

but if I put in manual configuration it works. This is on a Pocket PC 2003 pda, but if no one has experience with PPC networking, an explanation for Windows system will also be greatly appreciated.

What sort of connection does it use? Wireless? Cat5? Something from a pedastal?

It's a CAT5 connection. Just to add some extra info. This is being used at work, and it's the first time a PDA is being used to access the network. The network is functional, workstations are all good with DHCP. I've tried 2 Socket 10/100 Compact Flash Ethernet cards on 2 HP IPAQ 2210s. Same result.
