major boot problem on new pc

new intel mb, new kingston 2x512 ram, new video card new case,
just to start. After 6 hours of tinkering, I still cannot get to boot. All fans spin continually, mb light stays on, case lights are on, but no boot or BEEP for that matter. I tried everything like taking mb out an trying it on cardboard for a short circuit, using 1 stick of ram, in each of 4 slots,. Cant get to POST, it seems as if its sleeping. So, I took cpu fan off and restarted pc again to see if there was heat buildup on cpu. nothing. What does this mean? any help eill be immensely appreciated!!!

You took the CPU fan off, and turned the PC on??

Looks to be either motherboard, CPU, or power supply related.

check all your ide and power cables... i think i've had something like that happen when i forgot to plug in the power to a hdd (or was it i plugged in the power and not the ide... w/e something like that)

possibly try swtiching the video card

worst case, sounds like the cpu could be dead

Did you take the heatsink and fan off or just the fan, if you took both off, you probably just fried your processor...

tell us everything that is in the computer...
also, try removing everything that isn't necessary for booting...

detritus: intel d875pbz mb, intel 3.0 prescott cpu w/ heatsink and fan, geforce 5600 128 mg video card. I'm sure I didn't fry cpu 'cause it never even started to get warm. lots more components but not installed yet, I wanted to POST boot first

Be CAREFUL! Never, ever, ever run a processor without a HSF. No matter what.

I never use power supplies that come with cases because they're usually very cheap, non-branded ones, or sometimes not handled with the best of care.

But, I'm hoping the PSU is the problem, and not the CPU and motherboard. It was kind of stupid to try to start the PC with no HSF on your CPU...

Have another PC in your/your friend's house?
Try doing a test swap of the power supply to start with.
