Linux vsftpd question...

I have a linux web server w/php setup and running, and seems ok so far. I'm trying to get the ftp setup so my guy can log in and upload his files to test the server and see if any additional configuration is needed. I've modified the vsftpd.conf file to have the local_root point to /var/www/html and it logs in ok. Problem is I don't seem to have write access with the user i created using "adduser -p test user" the user is created and logs in ok with the password and username, but can't rename or delete any files... please help! thanks in advance!

Solved.
We added the user to the apache group and gave the root write access for the group.
