Playstation 2 tray sticking

A quick question maybe someone can help me with. When I press the eject button on my ps2, the drive gets stuck about 5 cm out, and I have to give it a little help before it will come out.

It sounds like the gears are grinding or have too much friction to push the tray open.

Anyone had a similar problem or know how to fix it?

You need to replace the gears. Sounds like they are grinding to a point of being nothing. The best thing to do is take it to the nearest repair facility (near me is Game Master) and they should charge about 20 bucks to fix it.

I'm not sure of a "repair facility" around me.

The only game stores we have are EB and GameStop.

Can they do it?
